Hang a Coat from the Heart holding third coat donation | Events
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Christian Academy varsity football team is hosting the third annual “Hang a Coat from the Heart” coat drive this week.
The Christian Academy Centurions are partnering with their opponent that night, DeSales High School, to help warm the homeless of Louisville by collecting 2,000 gently used coats for Wayside Christian Mission to benefit men, women and children.
At this game, all donated coats will be displayed on the fence surrounding the football field, which creates a visually stunning representation of these students’ commitment to missions.
“Last year we were able to donate 1,500 coats, along with hats, gloves and scarves,” Lisa Gamble, missions coordinator, said. “This year we’re increasing our goal to 2,000 coats and we need the help of our school families, as well as our local community members.”
Anyone interested in donating new or gently used coats for men, women or children, as well as hats or gloves, may drop them off at the front office of Christian Academy English Station, 700 S. English Station Road.
Donations will be accepted during the week, as well as at the varsity football game which will be held Friday night, October 14, at the 7:30 p.m. varsity football game.
