LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The investigation into the shooting of man in west Louisville has turned into the Metro's latest homicide case.

According to the coroner's office, Oladreon Whitfield, 19, died from a gunshot wound to the head.

A short time later, police located the car, but the driver would not pull over. Officers pursued the car through downtown Louisville before it eventually pulled into Norton Hospital.

"I know they were trying to catch up to them and they did follow them at one point, but at that time they probably realized where they were going and allowed the vehicle to get to the area and that subject was transported to University due to the severity of the injury," said Lt. Barry Wilkerson, LMPD.

Police said Whitfield was shot in the car.

The driver of the car and another man in the vehicle were detained for questioning.
