LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Part of a major Louisville interstate will be closed for two weekends to finish work on a road project that began last year.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said I-264 west will be closed between I-65 and Dixie Highway (mile points 12.0 and 7.4). The first closures will be from 10 p.m. Friday, September 21 to 6 a.m. Monday, September 24.
During the first closure, drivers will be detoured via I-65 north to I-64 west and then reconnected to I-264.
The second closure will be in the eastbound lanes of I-264 between Dixie Highway and I-65. This closure is scheduled for the weekend of September 28 through October 1.
KYTC said the work could not be finished last fall because of weather and coordination of weekend work with the University of Louisville home football games. Work was unable to be completed this spring because I-264 was being used as a detour for the I-65 and Kennedy Bridge construction projects.
